The Developmental Challenge
Early-stage managers, associates, and regional business heads had strong functional knowledge but limited structured exposure to leadership practices. To sustain impact at scale, the organization required a deliberate intervention to enhance leadership capacity with emphasis on decision-making, collaboration, team effectiveness, and values alignment. Our consultants identified that strengthening this layer was key to ensuring scalability, culture continuity, and future readiness.
We, at 89North, designed a phased leadership development journey built around three dimensions of leadership growth:
- Phase 1: Individual effectiveness
Building self-awareness, clarifying purpose, and strengthening personal effectiveness. - Phase 2: Leadership through others
Enhancing the ability to lead teams, foster collaboration, and drive productivity. - Phase 3: Enterprise leadership
Developing business acumen, strategic thinking, and embedding organizational values into leadership practice.
The journey incorporated action-learning projects, peer learning, mentoring and guided reflection as key methodologies, ensuring that every concept translated into practical shifts in behavior and decision-making.
The program resulted in a strong cohort of emerging leaders, individuals not only equipped with core leadership competencies but also deeply aligned with the organization’s mission and values. The strengthened middle management pipeline now provides the client with a sustainable foundation for scaling operations and delivering long-term impact.
